What are “My Child” interviews like?
Your interview will feel like you’re catching up with a friend about what’s going on in your child’s life: the latest milestones, the funny things they’re saying and doing, that super annoying thing they just figured out. In other words, it's a place to talk about the real stuff of being a kid — the stuff you'd give your right elbow to hear your own parents talking about when they were figuring out how to raise you.
How do interviews take place?
Remotely, either over the phone or on the computer.
How long are "My Child" interviews?
Each My Child interview lasts 20 minutes per child. For parents with multiple children, we schedule all of the interviews as part of the same session, so the length of your session will depend upon how many children you'll be speaking about.
How quickly can an interview be scheduled?
As soon as tomorrow!
How many people can be included in an interview at a time?
Up to two guests are included in the price of each interview. (Most parents do them together — it's a fun way to reflect together on how much they've grown.) And if your child makes a cameo, that's fine!
Who asks the questions?
Our interviewers are predominantly moonlighting journalists whose work has appeared everywhere from national publications to local airwaves. Others come from the fields of comedy and entertainment. If you have specific questions or topics you’d like us to discuss, you’ll be invited to provide as much guidance as you like after purchasing your Artifact.
How do I prep for a "My Child" interview?
When you schedule your interview, you'll answer a few basic pre-interview questions. Otherwise, it can be helpful to scroll through your phone’s camera roll for a little reminder of all the stuff they’ve been up to recently — and don’t forget to earmark your favorites so you can add them to your Artifact once it’s ready to share!
What languages does Artifact support?
We currently conduct interviews in English, Spanish, and French. We plan to support additional languages in the coming months. If you would like to purchase an Artifact in another language, please share that with us by emailing [email protected].
Can you help me think through what my Artifact should be about and/or who I should invite to interview?

Life happens — what if I need to reschedule?
Guests are free to reschedule up to 24 hours before an interview. If a guest reschedules within 24 hours, we charge a $20 fee — 100% of which goes to the interviewer, in order to compensate them for having reserved the time on their calendar. Interviews must be completed within 365 days from purchase.
What happens after my interview?
After your interview, we’ll ask whether you’d like our annual, seasonal, or monthly interview membership plan. Once you choose, we will deliver your first episode to your account, where you’ll be able to add photos and share with family and friends. You’ll also begin to receive monthly follow-up prompts from your interviewer by text message (every member receives the monthly prompts regardless of interview frequency).
How quickly are Artifacts ready for playing?
Typically within two business days.
How will I receive my Artifact?
In your Artifact account, which you can access here. Each episode lives on a beautiful listening page, where you can add photos and share.
Who can add photos and videos to Artifacts and is there a limit?
You and people you invite to listen can add (unlimited!) photos and videos. And if you prefer, you can control permissions, blocking any listener from adding media.
Can I share Artifacts with friends and family?
Absolutely — we make it very easy in your account.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes, you can cancel your membership at any time. Just make this request to [email protected].
If I cancel my membership, what happens to my Artifacts?
You’ll retain access to your Artifact account for one full year (365 days). During this time you will be able to download your Artifacts to your computer, phone or cloud storage provider (e.g., iCloud, Google, Dropbox, etc.). Of course, you’ll be able to restart your membership at any time or convert to worry-free hosting with Artifact ($2/month).
What if I want a refund?
If an interview is never scheduled for an Artifact episode, we refund 100% of your payment for that episode, no questions asked. If an interview is scheduled for an Artifact episode, we refund your payment for that episode minus a $35 cancellation fee. This fee compensates the interviewer for reserving time on their calendar, and covers the administrative costs of preparing the interview. Refund requests must be made to [email protected] within 180 days from purchase. Interviews must be completed within 365 days from purchase.
Can I download my Artifact?
Sure. You'll be able to download the audio after your Artifact is delivered.
Does Artifact allow me to back up to Google Photos, Apple Photos, Dropbox, OneDrive, and/or Amazon Photos?
Yes. Artifact integrates with any of the major cloud storage systems.
Who owns the Artifact that I purchase?
You own your Artifact, full stop. Furthermore, we never sell your data.
If Artifact is sold to another company, what happens to my Arifacts?
Artifact is a three-year-old, fast-growing company, so we totally understand where this question comes from! In the event that Artifact is sold, and upon informing you over email, we will provide you with 365 days (one full year!) to download your Artifacts for safe keeping to your computer, phone or cloud storage provider (e.g., Google Drive/Photos, iCloud/Apple Photos, Dropbox, etc.).
Can I password-protect my Artifact?
Of course. We offer three levels of security, from password-protected to entirely public.
