How does this work?
Invite your loved one to be interviewed and select a chapter of their life — Childhood, Coming of Age, or Family Life and Career — to focus on in the first interview.
Artifact gets them scheduled and records a half-hour interview with them (over the phone or computer). We then edit that recording down to a 20-minute, studio-quality chapter.
We deliver the chapter into your Artifact Family Account, where you can add photos and share privately with family members.
How much does it cost? How does the subscription work?
The first interview is free; you’ll only pay if you want the full episode delivered to your account.
Once the first interview is complete, you can choose to subscribe and save as you continue building your library of family stories. Subscriptions begin at $129 per year.
Why do I need this?
Most people don’t have a place they consider a “home” for their family stories. Artifacts helps preserve family stories by interviewing people about their lives. We take on the scheduling, the interviewing, the editing, and the storage — all you have to do is tell us who you’d like us to interview. Over time, we’ll create a priceless collection of first-person family stories for you and yours to enjoy now and pass down through the generations.
What are interviews like?
Like having a conversation with an old friend. Our interviewers come from the worlds of journalism and entertainment, and they are expert at getting the best stories out of people who may not think of themselves as natural storytellers.
Can I add videos and images?
You are able to add unlimited images to an episode. You will soon be able to add videos.
How does the interview take place? How long is it?
Each interview lasts 30 minutes (we schedule for 45, so that nobody feels rushed). Interview guests can join over the phone or computer browser — whichever they prefer.
Can I get an episode transcription?
Sure! Every chapter is transcribed.
